Location: Capulet’s House

Time: Sunday Afternoon

Characters: Lady Capulet, Nurse, Juliet and Servingman

Event: Lady Capulet calls Juliet to her and asks the nurse to stay and listen, she asks Juliet if she wants to get married to which she replies “It is an honour that I dream not of” (no). Her mother (lady Capulet) explains that she wants Juliet to marry Paris who Juliet has never met before. The nurse thinks that Juliet is too young to marry and give a massive story about how she raised Juliet and figures out her age by how many years ago an earthquake happened. Lady Capulet and the nurse start sugarcoating Paris to make him sound amazing and Lady Capulet tells Juliet to go and examine Paris at the party and then she will love him. Juliet says I will look at him if you want but that’s not going to make me like him.
