Act 2 Scene 3 Summary
Location: Frair Lawrence’s cell
Time: Monday Morning
Characters: Romeo, Frair Lawrence
Events: Frair Lawrence starts off the scene talking about the weather and how gloomy it is he then begins filling a basket with weeds and precious flowers and explains that earth can contain life as well as death. “The earth that’s nature’s mother is her tomb; What is her burying grave that is her womb”.Romeo enters and Frair Lawrence asks why he’s up so early, Romeo explains that he spent the night with capulets fair daughter and wants to marry her that very day. Frair Lawrence thinks Romeo is to forward and that “Young men’s love then lies Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes.” Meaning Romeo only loves what he sees.
